THE MESSAGE:
Today, we would wrap up our series on great faith with the story of Bartimaeus. This man was blind but his ears were not closed. He heard that Jesus was passing by and raised his voice to call on Him. This man kept shouting, ignoring all those who asked him to keep quiet, until he got Jesus attention. The first lesson to learn is that you should never let anyone or anything silence your faith. People may laugh at you because they think your answers havent manifested, they may even tell you that your faith is useless. Never let anyone discourage your faith before you see your results. Human beings are fickle; the same people who tried to shut Bartimaeus up were the same people who told him that Jesus was calling for him.
Bartimaeus understood the covenant origin of Jesus and addressed Him as Son of David. How well do you know your God? What covenant do you stand on when you make your requests to God? Do you stand on your own righteousness or the finished works of Christ? Beloved, I advise you to make your requests in the name of Jesus, standing on His
finished works. When Jesus eventually called for him, he cast away his garment. He cast aside anything that could hinder him.
Beloved, when you come to God, you should cast aside everything that can stand in the way of your faith and walk with God. Shut out the voices of the world and your challenges; focus on Jesus alone. Perhaps the most interesting part of this story is that Jesus told Bartimaeus, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. It was his faith that made him whole. Then, he followed Jesus.
Your faith has the ability to move God to act on your behalf, your faith has the ability to heal you and make you whole. When you have received your miracles, you should remember to give God the glory because He did it.
